Following the Call

I believe everyone is called to do God’s work in his or her own special way. We often overlook the “doors” that are being opened for us to walk through. Over the last few months God has opened so many doors and opportunities for my wife, Emily, and I. We never imagined leaving the great state of Tennessee because everything we have ever known is at home in Tennessee. Our family, friends, school, jobs and memories. Everything.

The decision to move was one that has definitely been on the table for a while now. We discussed moving for months, but was waiting for an opportunity to arise. I am blessed to have an amazing wife that supports my passion to work with and be apart of Second Chance. I am so thankful for the opportunity to follow the call that I have felt in my heart from the time I arrived in Haiti and after my return. To be honest, I never thought I would be willing to pick up and move for any reason other than my own personal desires, but as you can see, God had other plans.

Am I scared to completely start over? Yes, of course. Have I had doubts about whether or not this is the right move? Absolutely. However, I have learned that sometimes in life we must take risks to follow the direction God has for us all. The desire in my heart for Second Chance is unexplainable. I feel that God has called me to be much closer to the home office in North Carolina so that I can devote more time and energy into doing what I feel God is calling me to do. Not everyone has a desire for mission work and that is okay. However, I feel that God has used missions in my life as a way to grow in him, help others grow in him and to show love to those who may have never felt love.

I am excited to start this new journey with my wife and friends who are in North Carolina. I am blessed to find Second Chance.
